How It Works¶
Scoring Algorithm¶
Launch Readiness scores are calculated using a weighted average across five scoring dimensions:
| Category | Weight | What It Measures |
|---|---|---|
| Content Quality | 25% | Title length (40-80 chars), description quality, highlights with metrics, action verbs |
| SEO Optimization | 15% | Keyword density, AWS service mentions, optimal lengths for search visibility |
| Compliance | 20% | Required fields, pricing information, support details, AWS submission requirements |
| Competitive Position | 20% | Unique value propositions, free trial availability, differentiators vs. benchmarks |
| Market Fit | 20% | Use case clarity, target audience definition, AWS service integrations |
Score Thresholds¶
Listings are categorized into readiness levels based on their total score:
| Score Range | Status | Indicator |
|---|---|---|
| 90-100 | Excellent | Green badge |
| 70-89 | Ready to Launch | Green |
| 50-69 | Needs Work | Yellow |
| 0-49 | Not Ready | Red |
Launch Threshold
The default "Ready to Launch" threshold is 70. Listings scoring 70+ with no blocking issues are considered launch-ready.

Frequently Asked Questions¶
General¶
What is a Launch Readiness Score?
A Launch Readiness Score is a 0-100 rating that measures how well-prepared your AWS Marketplace listing is for launch. It evaluates content quality, SEO optimization, compliance with AWS requirements, competitive positioning, and market fit.
How often should I check my score?
We recommend checking your score after making significant changes to your listing. With "Auto-score on Save" enabled, scores update automatically whenever you save listing content.
What's a good score to launch with?
A score of 70 or higher is considered "Ready to Launch." Scores above 90 are rated "Excellent." Aim for at least 70 before submitting your listing to AWS Marketplace.
Scoring¶
How are the category weights determined?
Default weights are based on AWS Marketplace best practices and analysis of high-performing listings. Administrators can customize weights in Settings to align with organizational priorities.
Why is my Compliance score low?
Common reasons for low compliance scores:
- Missing required fields (pricing, support contact)
- Incomplete product descriptions
- Missing AWS service integrations
- No support documentation linked
How do I improve my SEO score?
To improve SEO optimization:
- Include relevant keywords in title and description
- Mention specific AWS services you integrate with
- Keep titles between 40-80 characters
- Maintain description length around 1500 characters
- Use action verbs in highlights
What are 'blocking issues'?
Blocking issues are critical problems that prevent launch regardless of score. Examples include:
- Missing required pricing information
- No support contact specified
- Incomplete compliance fields
- Invalid product identifiers
Configuration¶
Can I change the scoring weights?
Yes. Administrators can adjust category weights in Settings > Scoring Weights. Weights must sum to 100%. Changes affect all future score calculations.
How do I adjust the launch threshold?
Go to Settings > Score Thresholds and modify the "Recommended Launch" value. The default is 70.
What are benchmarks used for?
Benchmarks provide category-specific targets that help users understand how their listing compares to others in the same category. They inform the competitive position scoring dimension.
Technical¶
Are scores stored permanently?
Score persistence is configurable. When enabled, scores are stored for trend analysis and leaderboards. Contact your administrator for current retention settings.
Can I export score data?
Yes. Analytics data can be exported from the Analytics page. Enterprise plans support automated reporting via API.
Does scoring work for all marketplace types?
Currently, Launch Readiness scoring is optimized for AWS Marketplace listings. Azure and GCP support is planned for future releases.
