Subject: 85% of AWS Marketplace listings fail the same test Preview: We scored 600+. The basics aren't the problem.
We ran 602 live AWS Marketplace listings — 303 Professional Services, 299 SaaS — through our buyer-centric scoring model: six dimensions (clarity, buyer fit, differentiation, SEO, trust, conversion), all from the public listing copy.
The headline: almost everyone nails the basics, and almost no one stands out.
- Clarity and SEO are saturated — median scores of 89 and 97. Clean titles, right keywords. Table stakes.
- Differentiation is where listings go to die — more than 4 in 5 Professional Services listings (and nearly 3 in 4 SaaS) score below 40 out of 100. Median: 23. But the top 10% score 93+.
- ~45% have no clear call to action — buyers find you, then leave without a next step.
Read that again: the gap between an average listing and a top-10% listing isn't a better title. It's a point of view and a path to act.
That matters more every month, because buyers increasingly start with an AI assistant — and a model recommending "the best X on AWS Marketplace" can't cite a listing that sounds like every other listing.
The top 10% do three things:
- Lead with a named outcome, not a category ("cut MTTR 60%," not "observability platform").
- Say what makes them different in the first two lines — explicitly.
- End with one clear next step.
